Hi Emma,

I too am on the 5:2 diet (have lost 6ilbs) and have done alot of research into and personally a great way to eat and live - it makes you think about what and how you're eating and your not depriving yourself and making yourself miserable by cutting out this and that, and theres is alot of scientific research data to back up this way of life.

How did you find it?

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to comment, the reason I blog is to start conversation. I am well aware of how weight loss and healthy living works, I eat healthily, drink in extreme moderation and exercise daily.
I am also extremely curious, hence the 5:2 diet trial for a week. A week, that's all. I wasn't suggesting it change my life, but I was willing to try it for a week.

I now have an extremely healthy view of my body and look after myself. The people who read my blog like the fact I am diverse and try things, which I will continue to do.

I do appreciate you sharing your opinion though.

Look forward to your comments on my other more racy posts coming up

I'm sorry Emma, I have to disagree. Whilst I completely 'get' the upbringing and the food journey (there's a whole different post's worth of material right there!), you are an adult now, with an adult's outlook on life. The only sensible, sustainable weight loss solution is: calories in v's calories out! If you use more than you consume, you will loose weight. If you retain more than you consume you will gain weight. Simple maths. I am a great believer in 'all things balanced' and the 5:2 is not balanced!. Whilst I acknowledge the previous commentators input 'My friend has been doing this and has lost about 2 stone. he says it's the easiest diet he’s ever done!' How long has her friend been doing the diet? how long before he puts the weight on? (plus a bit, because he's depressed he didn't sustain the weight loss he hoped for?) How much exercise does he do? I don't mean to sound negative, but diets are short term, Lifestyle changes are the only sustainable way to go . . .Small changes: walk rather than drive. Run or cycle rather than walk . . eat rather than 'ready meal' . .read nutrition labels on ready meals, I could write a book, but it would consist of one sentence only: Eat less, do more . . . not exactly a best seller, but that's all the diet books need to say! The reason diet/weight loss books always hit the best seller charts is because we are all looking for a 'quick fix' . . .we seek permission to continue with our unhealthy lifestyles and, to a certain extent, the diet books various give us that option. Like meat - choose Atkins. Like to indulge - hey just diet 2 days per week! Enjoy a drink or two, why not skip a meal? (Ultimately, we seek permission to carry on as we are and not change a single thing!). . .This is not sustainable! Don't get me wrong, I'm not a killjoy! I enjoy a steak, I enjoy a drink, I like a duvet day . . .but all things in moderation. The bottom line (no pun intended) is that if you consume more that you use you will gain weight and it doesn't matter if you eat meat, veggies, carbs, protien, or some expensive 'must do diet' a calorie is a calorie - weather it's 'in' or 'out'! At the end of the day: The ONLY solution is: (and here's my one sentence best seller!!): Eat less, do more!
